Eric Harris: Harris wanted to join the United States Marine Corps, but his application was rejected shortly before the shootings because he was taking the drug fluvoxamine, an SSRI antidepressant, which he was required to take as part of court-ordered anger management therapy. According to the recruiting officer, Harris did not know about this rejection. Though some friends of Harris suggested that he had stopped taking the drug beforehand,[47] the autopsy reports showed low therapeutic or normal (not toxic or lethal) blood-levels of Luvox (fluvoxamine) in his system, which would be around 0.0031-0.0087 mg%,[48] at the time of death.[49] After the shootings, opponents of contemporary psychiatry like Peter Breggin[50] claimed that the psychiatric medications prescribed to Harris after his conviction (ostensibly for obsessive-compulsive disorder) may have exacerbated his aggressiveness.[51]
Adam Lanza: Lanza's Psychiatric Treatment Revealed In Documents
December 28, 2013|Alaine Griffin, Josh Kovner, The Hartford Courant
Buried in the thousands of pages of police reports released Friday into the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, new details about Adam Lanza's mental health and his treatment have emerged, revealing that he was seen at the Yale Child Study Center in his early teens and was prescribed the antidepressant Celexa.
Seung-Hui-Cho: The investigation panel had sought Cho's medical records for several weeks, but due to privacy laws, Virginia Tech was prohibited from releasing them without permission from Cho's family, even after his death.[106] The panel had considered using subpoenas to obtain his records. On June 12, 2007, Cho's family released his medical records to the panel, although the panel said that the records were not enough.[107][108] The panel obtained additional information by court order.[109] Like the perpetrators of both the Columbine and Jokela school massacres, Cho was prescribed the antidepressant drug Prozac prior to his rampage, a substance suspected by Peter Breggin and David Healy of leading to suicidal behaviors.
James Holmes: Last July 20, James Holmes walked into a midnight showing of the latest “Batman” movie in Aurora, Colo., and opened fire, killing 12 and wounding 58, police said. The Denver Post reported Holmes was taking generic Zoloft, an SSRI.
