Gretas nästa mål: På väg till Bristol

Greta Thunberg styr kosan mot sydvästra England och staden Bristol. I ett inlägg på Instagram meddelar den 17-åriga svenska klimataktivisten att hon kommer att delta i en skolstrejk för klimatet i staden nästa fredag, den 28 februari.

Thunberg said that she did not understand how politicians could look their children in the eyes as they were stealing their future.

"The decision-makers are still behaving as though everything were fine and science is still being ignored," the Swedish activist told 20,000 protesters, according to police estimates. Organizers estimated 60,000 people.

"This is 2020, and we need to see real action now."

Greta Thunberg to join school strike in Bristol

Climate change activist Greta Thunberg is to join a school strike in Bristol. She tweeted she was "heading for the UK" and was "looking forward" to joining strikers on College Green in the city centre on Friday morning.

Bristol Youth Strike for Climate (BYS4C) said it was "honoured to be welcoming" the 17-year-old.

"The whole Bristol community has come together to make it happen. We think Greta's presence will make it very big and bring a lot of energy to the strike."

Greta Thunberg to visit Bristol for youth climate protest

Greta Thunberg will visit the UK next week to take part in a youth protest in Bristol.

The 17-year-old climate activist, who launched a global youth-based movement when she began a “climate strike” outside Sweden’s parliament in 2018, plans to join protesters on College Green on Friday.

Demonstrators have set up blockades in British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta and Quebec in solidarity with opponents of the Coastal GasLink pipeline project that crosses the traditional territory of the Wet’suwet’en First Nation in northwestern British Columbia. Some hereditary chiefs in the Wet’suwet’en First Nation oppose the natural gas pipeline, though it has received approval from elected band councils.

Trudeau said some people can’t get to work and others have lost their jobs. He said there is no point making the same overtures to indigenous leaders if they aren’t accepted.

Dennis Darby, president of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, said his group’s estimate is that up to C$450 million of goods a day are being left stranded because of the freight-rail interruption. Three-quarters of Canada’s manufacturing capacity is in eastern Canada.

“This has gone from serious to critical,” Mr. Darby said. “Manufacturers are suffering losses in terms of product that’s perishable. And companies have told us they are going to start cutting shifts at plants. The ripple effect will be in the factories.”
