Hej! Nu har jag nästan drogat sönder mig själv med mina favorit band, därför behöver jag någonting nytt som jag kan droga ett tag....för att sedan gå tillbaka till favoriterna. XP

Jag lyssnar mest på följande band:
Within Temptation
Nightwish
All Ends
After Forever

Volturian - Haunting Symphony

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WZFNcw5Awk

Från intervju med sångerskan :

"I was fascinated by gothic culture, vampires, occult, by gothic romantic characters such as Dracula or Lestat, but at the same time, I danced to hip hop and techno music. Me and Federico talked a lot about the look and the sound we wanted to reach and since we were on the same wavelength, we decided to choose this kind of goth but also modern look, reminiscent of some late 90s, early 2000 movies as Underworld, Van Helsing, Blade and so on. I think that Castle in the album cover has a lot of secrets inside, it contains our memories, dreams and nightmares, our passions, our dark sides."

Draconian - Sorrow of Sophia

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaqVQ2gvxYE

"Let’s talk a little bit about the new album’s title “Under a Godless Veil”. Where did you draw the inspiration for it from?

The title refers to the gnostic myth of the Wisdom goddess Sophia and her fall from the highest realm of being. With this fall a veil- or cloud was established between the highest realm, called the Pleroma, and what was to become our material world.

According to the Gnostics this world is like a simulation, a projection handled by a supreme malignant being (the god of Abraham / all three monotheist religions… and Satan, if you will) to keep us prisoners here. Allot like movies like The Matrix, Dark City and The Truman Show, if you will. It is a story that goes back to Plato and his Allegory of the shadows in the cave."

https://metalinvader.net/interview-with-draconian/

John Lamb Lash har skrivit en hel del om just gnosticism :

"Ideologues of the three Abrahamic religions hate the Sophianic myth. And well they should, for it challenges their fundamental beliefs and answers many questions that otherwise must be left to faith. What’s more, it presents a narrative with the power to entirely overthrow their creation stories and render them useless and absurd.

The heresy coming out of the Mysteries makes those faith systems look extremely stupid, and exposes the harmful deceit of blind faith. Gnosis presented in its time, and still presents today, a frontal threat to religious faith and its accessories, orthodoxy, authority, hierarchy, and most of all, moral rules said to proceed from the creator-god. Gnosis has always been the opposition movement to all belief-systems. It does not present an alternative religion, but an alternative to all religions.

Engagement with the Sophianic myth may be compared to film-making. Actors who play roles and deliver lines have to know the plot of the film. Others who appear in the film have no significant roles, and often no speaking lines. Their participation does not require knowing anything about the plot of the movie, far less about the intention of the director, screenwriter, and principle cast. These are the “extras,” comparable to NPCs, non-player characters in a video game."

"What, finally, would attract anyone to become involved with this elaborate mythic narrative? Those who seek purpose in life will find both the frame and foundation for it in this visionary tale. That already is a huge factor of attraction, and there is more as well. "

"The Sophianic myth has many dimensions of meaning and applications to life.*The summation of Sophia’s myth converges and dwells on a point of esthetics: as nature is beautiful, so is the supernatural source of the natural world.

But infinitely, inconceivably more so. The natural world is lovely and bountiful in countless ways, Likewise, the World Mother, the dreaming goddess at its source, but infinitely more so. Coming into Sophia’s immediate presence learning the spectacular star myth about her, you will realize that this particular cosmic divinity is all about esthetics.

The most beautiful story on earth is the story about the earth. Finally, or perhaps from the outset, there is one paramount factor that brings you home to the Home Story, and compels you to get involved and do your part to determine its outcome: that factor is beauty."

Moyra - Unleashed Spirits

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7hxZH2e6fM

"IN YOUR LATEST VIDEO FOR “UNLEASHED SPIRITS”, WITH BEAUTIFUL FOOTAGE OF A WOLF AND A BIRD OF PREY, THERE’S ONLY YOU AND GUITARIST DAMIAN PASHCZK. WHY? WHAT IS THE SONG ABOUT?

It was a conscious decision, considered with the whole band. Because we’re the main composers, we’ve decided to do a minimalistic, no-frills video, based on that kind of allegory.

We refer to the content of connecting with the spirits of nature, in this case I am a reflection the spirit of the wolf (wildness, family attachment, strength, perseverance, dealing with any difficult situation and survival in this difficult world)

Damian in this case is a bird of prey, it’s a symbol of fighting for survive, it teaches us to not escape from our problems, face them and fight for ourselves and our good. It shows that every fight makes us stronger and helps you get to know ourselves better. "

"The cover art shows three goddess – Moirai – daughters of Zeus (it’s a Greek name) but my Moirai are presented my way. A symbol of femininity, woman’s strength, mother, guardian, destiny, fate. It’s like everything that happens in my life is not a coincidence and I understood that’s my destiny, a path written for me. I surrendered to this and I flow with it, with everything that fate brings me in the music sphere.

The band’s name perfectly reflects this situation, but Moirai, on the other hand, are just good beings. On the cover they herald a good OMEN, clean the Earth from dirt that was created in this world. These days are full of chaos, negativity, arrogance, pride, greed, cynicism, envy… It doesn’t give the possibility of human development, doesn’t give the possibility of growing to a higher level of consciousness.

People prepare such a fate for themselves, they are sad, disappointed, they have huge emotional problems by chasing something that is not written for them. They feel frustration, isolate themselves. Now we only build blocks of flats to have it, we don’t live to be. There is no joy that our ancestors had when they were joined with nature. They had this inner peace and connection with the spirits of the world, of nature.

Moirai from the cover restore this order, they cleanse the world from the ashes so that it can be born again, in a better version."

Valentine Wolfe - Annabel Lee

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akMEXkWHn-4

"Sarah: I love studying the history and culture of the Victorian Era. Many of my favorite authors come from that time period, and many of my current living friend authors know so much about that time period. I love to listen to authors talk about this topic at the conventions I attend! I know Edgar Allan Poe really wrote a little before the Victorian, but he has had a huge influence on our work.

The Victorians indulged in a dichotomy of exhibitionism and inhibitions when it came to so many aspects of daily living. It is so interesting for me to look at what has changed since then and what is still largely the same. It really surprises me sometimes!"

"Sarah: Edgar Allan Poe. I have set music to Poe, Shakespeare, Keats, Byron, Mary Shelley, among others. I set the poetry that most appeals to me so I’m probably subconsciously choosing the poets that would work the best with my musical aesthetic. My musical aesthetic has been shaped in part by spending my early childhood years in Indonesia and experiencing the rich musical traditions there.

I also started piano lessons at a young age and began playing through the classical pieces. Then I began absorbing the metal later. So all of these influences affect the way I write music and I think it affects the way I set lyrics in that I try to convey the passions and emotions the author has written, but it is colored by my own ideas of what I think sounds good.

Braxton: What Sarah said, but it’s really hard to choose just one. I really like Baudelaire, Dante, W. H. Auden, and Dorothy Parker."

Blackbriar - The Rooster's Crow

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G61Cm3BAiBc

Intervju med sångerskan :

"The first spark of inspiration for “The Rooster’s Crow” actually came from a certain scent. When it comes to sense of smell, I tend to feel a lot of emotions. I had ordered some perfume samples and one was described to smell like roses and dirt – as if you were strolling around a graveyard.

So it all began with the smell of roses and dirt and the story came to me while wearing the perfume. The Lidérc sounds amazing and actually fits the meaning of “The Rooster’s Crow” perfectly, but I personally found inspiration in the Danse Macabre and the symphonic poem by Camille Saint-Saëns which, according to legend, tells the story of Death appearing at Midnight every year on Halloween. Death calls forth the dead from their graves to dance for him while he plays his fiddle.

His skeletons dance for him until the rooster crows at dawn, after which they must return to their graves until the next year. I started imagining a man grieving for his lost love and he would go back to her grave at night once a year so he could dance with her during the Danse Macabre until the rooster crows and she must return to her grave."

Dark Sarah - B.U.R.N.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lewoL8j0qGY

Från olika intervjuer :

"Would you like to tell us a bit about what the new album is about?

On GRIM, Luna fought against a monster called Mörk. After Mörk was killed, Malevolent – the evil orb – needed a new host. It cast a spell over Luna with the ancient sleeping thorns, Svefnthorns, and Luna fell into a sleep-like state. When word of the passing of the monster reached Orym, the king of the forest folk, he started his attack towards Grim. The Grim citizens must wake up Luna to find their magic and find back Orym and his troops."

"Clearly, ATTACK OF ORYM is a concept album that follows GRIM. Is it going to be a trilogy just like your previous releases?

I have left the story on ATTACK OF ORYM at a point where it can also end. I am going to give myself the freedom if I want to continue the story or not."

https://www.metal-rules.com/2023/02/...di-parviainen/

"Playfonic: This story is something you created, the narrative, or is it based on some real story?

Heidi: No. It is completely my own. I created the story from my imagination. The story can be familiar to everyone that likes reading books of fantasy and fairytales. So the tematic are the same. But the character Luna, monsters, villains, orchs, magics, villages, it is a journey. That’s why I have also written a story book to the album, like a physical book.

They are quite short and written in a poem form, cause I want to have the same feeling on the album when you are reading the lyrics. In this way you can dig deeper in the story too. Of course you can listen to our album without knowing anything about the story, but if you like there is this possibility to read it and get the idea."

GALLIA - Cast It All Away

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlSerlLdkUY

"We love songs with dimension, meaning it’s not just great music, but there’s a story behind it. Our lyrics tell stories from a fantasy world we created ourselves, called Terra Nova. The stories of our new album, Obscura, are being written out into a short fantasy novel as we speak. Allowing our listeners to dive even deeper into this world and fantasize of new worlds together with us. It’s another layer to add to the music."

"PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?

EV: Music is a place that will never be too crowded. The age of the home studio has opened up opportunities for talented musicians and artists to share their music with the world, which would otherwise go unnoticed 50 years ago. Our music started from a home studio as well and we’re grateful to live in a day and age where this is possible.

Promoting your music might feel difficult because of the increasing noise on social media – but all it takes is some creativity and trying different ideas out. If you want to stand out, you need to find a different approach than everyone else."

https://petesrocknewsandviews.com/gallia-interview/

"Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Our band name Gallia is derived from the Dutch word ‘Galliër’, which translates to Gauers or Gaul. These are old names for the Celtic tribes that lived West of the European Alps before the Roman invasion in 50 BC. This area would later become Belgium and France, and since we’re a Belgian band, we thought this would be a great way to honor our roots.

Gaul people excelled in sword-making and fighting, and their name was derived from the Celtic word ‘Galno’, which means strength. We also love bringing a great deal of power, battle, and victory into our music. "

"Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We’re very inspired by fantasy books and movies, we love losing ourselves in other worlds and going on adventures, taking part in great battles, slaying dragons, and finding victory. Vocalist Elyn, who writes the lyrics, combines her own struggles and life experiences and translates them into stories for our music."

http://www.breathingthecore.com/2022...ws-gallia.html

"Obscura was written music-first, which allowed Elyn to create the stories in the lyrics. She is a big fantasy fan so naturally a lot of lore and folk-tales creep into her stories and lyrics. For Tears Of Gold she was also inspired by Norse Mythology, the song is about the goddess Freya.

After Elyn wrote all the lyrics, she saw a bigger story emerge, and she wrote a book called « Obscura, the dark age of Terra Nova ». This book tells the story behind the album and each song on the album translates to a chapter in the book. »"

Ad Infinitum - Son of Wallachia

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLl4JT8mlCE

Från intervju med sångerskan :

"You did get inspiration for the new album from life and “afterlife” of Vlad the Impaler. What led to that? Is this something you’ve been interested in for a while?

So despite the fact that we didn’t want to continue this backstory with the time traveling, we still continued finding inspiration for the lyrics in historical characters. It’s so interesting. History is a never-ending source of inspiration when it comes to stories and to lyrics. We had a few characters in mind, and this one was, I think, the most inspiring and the most fitting with our own universe, because when you say Vlad Dracula you have, for some people, the image of this national hero who fought the Ottoman Empire.

On the other side, you have this Vlad the Impaler who killed a lot of people. And for a lot of people, when you say Dracula, the first thing that comes to mind is the vampire. So these are three aspects that you can dig into to create all the lyrics of an album. You can even create more than an album with it. But yeah, we enjoyed it.

I did a lot of research before writing, because we all in the band knew the basics about Vlad the Impaler and Dracula, but it’s interesting to dig a little bit into history and to find things that are outside of the common knowledge.""

"Is there anything that you learned about him that surprised you?

Yeah, I think that one of the facts that surprised me and I decided to write about was the fact that when he was young, he had three brothers, and when him and his little brother Radu were young boys, young teenagers, they were sent to the Ottoman court as some kind of guarantee of loyalty of their father towards the Ottoman court, because they were helping him reclaim his lands or throne. I don’t remember exactly the story, but the fact that really shocked me is that those two boys grew up in a totally different way while living in the same place.

Vlad decided first opportunity to go back to Wallachia and to take back the throne of his father. He went and he was very resistant against the culture of the Ottoman Empire of the Turks, and his brother Radu completely embraced everything. So they ended up being enemies at some point, and that’s what inspired the song “Your Enemy.”"
