The action begins when the Robinson family and two others, Dr. Smith and Don West, crash-land on an unknown planet. In their new environment, this group is forced to reckon with a volatile climate and potentially hostile alien lifeforms.
"But when the new colonists find themselves abruptly torn off course en route to their new home they must forge new alliances and work together to survive in a dangerous alien environment, light-years from their original destination.
"Stranded along with the Robinsons are two outsiders who find themselves thrown together by circumstance and a mutual knack for deception. The unsettlingly charismatic Dr. Smith (Parker Posey) is a master manipulator with an inscrutable end game. And the roguish, but inadvertently charming Don West (Ignacio Serricchio) is a highly-skilled, blue collar contractor, who had no intention of joining the colony, let alone crash landing on a lost planet."
The first season will span 10 episodes, each lasting an hour (give or take, what with Netflix being flexible on running times).

Here's who'll be manning the spaceship Jupiter 2 in the revived series:
Toby Stephens (Black Sails) as John Robinson, the expedition commander.
Molly Parker (House of Cards) as Maureen Robinson, a fearless and brilliant aerospace engineer who makes the decision to bring her family to space, for a chance at a new life on a better world.
Ignacio Serricchio as Don West, a roughneck smuggling luxury goods on the side who discovers in the Robinsons the family he never thought he would find.
Taylor Russell as Judy Robinson, John and Maureen's eldest child.
Mina Sundwall as Penny Robinson, one of the Robinson children.
Maxwell Jenkins as Will Robinson, the youngest Robinson child.

Raza Jaffrey (Spooks, Homeland) will also recur as Victor according to Deadline, "a well groomed, educated and officious man with a sense of entitlement."
