Tro inte på saker du läser i Expressen.
Dels är det inte en person utan två nyckelpersoner och flera ur deras researchteam som går tillbaka till Google och de två nyckelpersonerna är inga duvungar direkt.
”
The company's co-founders, Noam Shazeer and Daniel De Freitas, were both engineers from Google. While at Google, the co-founders both worked on AI-related projects: Shazeer was a lead author on a paper that Business Insider reported in April 2023 "has been widely cited as key to today's chatbots", and De Freitas was the lead designer of an experimental AI at Google initially called Meena, which would later become known as LaMDA.”
”
The latest example came on Friday when Google said the cofounders of AI chatbot startup Character AI and some members of its research team would join its already substantial AI efforts. ”

Dels är det ju investerarna man köper ut, de har ju satsat rejält med pengar samt att de anställda för betalt för sina andelar.
Så här skrevs det om det för ett par månader sedan när det var en nyhet;
”
The surprise “agreement” with Google is a strange one on multiple levels. For one, while no company shares are technically changing hands, investors in Character.AI are being paid for the value of their equity by Google at a valuation of $2.5 billion. Sources also tell me that employees are receiving cash at that valuation commensurate with their vested shares, and they’ll keep getting payments at that price as their existing stock grants continue to vest. (Character.AI raised about $150 million to date and its last known valuation was $1 billion.)”

Det här sågs som en bra affär för Google men folk var lite förundrade över varför grundarna skulle gå med på det. Axios la fram synpunkten/teorin att det helt enkelt handlade om arbetet med att träna modellerna;
”
No entrepreneur enjoys fundraising, but there's a special unpleasantness for generative AI founders who need billions of dollars to train their models.
It's just not what many of these trained engineers want to be doing, even if VC wallets are open.
Character.AI's co-founders chose the path of least repulsion.”
