It would attack dissenters by removing tax-exempt status from nonprofits
A bill is set to be reintroduced next week in the U.S. House of Representatives that, if passed, would allow the federal government to terminate the tax-exempt status of American organizations it contends are materially supporting designated “terrorist” groups.
H.R. 9495, known as the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act, was narrowly defeated earlier this month. Like the Patriot Act, which was rushed through Congress in the aftermath of 9/11, the new bill’s stated goals are presented as being a reasonable step forward in the name of fighting terrorism.
However, what concerns many nonprofits like Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth is the sweeping power the bill gives to the federal government and the apparent lack of oversight of the use of that power

Och så här skriver ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union):
The bill would give the executive branch the authority to effectively dismantle any nonprofit organization deemed to have provided "material support" to terrorist groups – without due process. And an authoritarian-leaning executive branch could take advantage of the vague definition of material support to target nonprofits based on their political advocacy and other activities protected by the First Amendment.Här med bäring på NGOs som driver frågor om mänskliga rättigheter och rättvisa i konflikten mellan palestinierna och zionisterna i Palestina.
