Vidare.
Citat:
Claim: Kamala Harris stated that the Trump administration's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic was the "greatest failure of any presidential administration in the history of our country."
Analysis: This statement, while an opinion and judgment, cannot be factually quantified. It's a broad assertion that blends subjective interpretation with critique. While many criticized the Trump administration's pandemic response, calling it the "greatest failure" is debatable and hinges on perspective.
Claim: Kamala Harris claimed that Joe Biden and the Obama administration "created more jobs than the Trump administration."
Analysis: This statement is misleading. The economy under Trump before the pandemic was strong, with unemployment rates hitting historic lows. The Biden-Harris campaign referred to job creation figures across the entire Obama-Biden administration (2009–2017), but they failed to acknowledge that the final months of Obama’s presidency saw a slowing economy. Under Trump, job creation surged before the pandemic, with more than 6.6 million jobs added during his first three years. However, due to COVID-19, job losses in 2020 significantly hurt Trump's overall job creation numbers.
Trump’s Tax Cuts
Claim: Harris argued that Trump's tax cuts benefitted the top 1% and raised taxes on the middle class.
Analysis: This claim is misleading. While Trump's 2017 tax cuts did disproportionately benefit wealthy Americans and corporations, most middle-class Americans saw a reduction in their taxes, not an increase. According to the Tax Policy Center, 65% of taxpayers received a tax cut in 2018, with higher earners benefiting more proportionally. The claim that the middle class saw their taxes go up is inaccurate for most, though the tax cuts were temporary for individuals, expiring in 2025.
